2006 overview:

We had the opportunity and money to repair the drain pipes at the end of Independence beginning in 2006, this included resurfacing Colonial and Independence.  The board voted from the back of a golf cart in early summer 2006 when most of the owners were away and spent $118,000; and an additional $45,000 for the engineer Reynolds.  The engineer’s report of April 2, 2007 stated that the pipe could be repaired.

This could be done at annual meetings, the consent form is not an urgent issue, the issue has now been going on for over two years.  The method just gets more creative and expensive using village  monies frivolously with costly mailings and attorney fees for the directed language.  We want to know whatever happened to a good old-fashioned vote at the clubhouse?

At this time there is an approximate total $200,000 in the bank accounts.  Scare tactics are used to encourage sway to their spending.  Ed Grabau handed out cash to a contractor to finish a fence around the boat compound.  The job was supposed to start May 1, and it never happened.

The audit that was presented last October.  Ed Grabau, board president, had the auditor change the wording on the audit.  Why would we pay out $5,000 for an audit, and then allow a board member to change it?

The owners/financiers of LTV are stricken out of the equation.

The consent form, if passed, would take the owners/financiers completely out of the equation, and we would be totally at the mercy of the management while we finance everything collectively without any representation.  The owners/financiers would rather have nothing done than anything done in excess of what is needed.  Volunteers have always been available in the village, if the board does not find us cooperative, it may be because there is disapproval of their intent.

The people would have little or no say in the village common grounds, and we would be at the mercy of the management company backed by the board, while we finance all their decisions without representation.  Another huge reason to deny additional freedom to this board and management company is the day-to-day business that always seems to be how to mis-appropriate funds already available.

There has to be some check and balance within the board that has not happened since taking it from the LC to our present Corporation Not-For-Profit in 2004.   We have maintained an LC president for the majority of our most recent history of Village of Lake Tarpon, Inc. since the February 2004 judgment, still having Ed Grabau.  Lets hope with future elections the division of LC and non-LC will bring a more united village.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the village for allowing me to be your Property Manager for the past 4-1/2 years.
I would also like to thank Jan Mackey for making my wife and myself Guest of Honor at the recent Ham & BEAN Dinner, along with whomever was responsible for my Surprise Gift Bag and its thoughtful contents.
It was Indeed a pleasure to work for the leaders of your village such as the LATE JOHN FINN, who spent countless hours searching the Internet trying to find ways to better serve your village.
ROGER DODRILL, who was the most dedicated leader on the L. C. Board after the passing of John finn, his only interest in the Village was for the benefit of the Village.  Yet the only accomplishment that Roger receives was extreme criticism.  Kay Dunn, that worked too many hours to mention on the grounds and in the office along with Audrey Vogel during my early years in the village.  Ken Walsh who spent hours & hours with me in the office trying to come up with a workable budget, only to be shot down because the increase in cost was more than the village wise men thought was appropriate.  George Ellis, that probably put in more hours in the village than any other person trying to keep up with the needs on the village grounds, and sprinkler systems.  bob Prather who was Johnny on the spot on our electrical needs in the Clubhouse and all over the grounds.  Carol Cannella who was in the Office almost every day helping with Homeowner registrations, filing and other administrative chores.  Along with Dick Weave, Bill Stutzman, Ina Morgan, & Ray Buchanan that always were looking for things that they could do to help in the village.
Ray was on the TRANSITION TEAM that spent too many hours to mention, along with Ted Freitag & Ken Walsh, attempting to set new policies & procedures for the new entity, yet all that I heard was criticism from the Village as to what they were or what they WERE NOT DOING.
Thank goodness for the TJ. Brumbaugh's & Jan Schmalz in the Village that probably have spent a Zillion hours trying to maintain a telephone directory that benefits each & everyone of you, both supporters and non-supporters of the Village.
The Jim Sidebottom, Clarence Bresslers, the gus Vogel's and the Earlie Stovalls that have worked without supervision or instructions for years trying to make the village a better place to live for all of you.  Not to mention the Pat Finn's, the Margaret Stovalls the Glenda Waldens who were always there to sign checks so that the bills could be paid.
I am running out of room, but please do not forget the efforts of Bill Palmer, Art Guild, Pat allen, Jim Doss, Paula Chamley, Sue Anderson, Barbara Ruddick, Bob Duggan, June Sloan, Juanita Wilson & Monty Montecillo.
Please try to understand that my memory is not as sharp as it once was, and for those that I failed to mention please excuse me.
As a professional property manager, I might encourage the village to work more closely together as you are all in the same boat to sink or swim, rather than criticize your leaders, do something to help them.
Just think, a $2000 donation from all of you would result in over a Million Dollars in road funds!
As one of the greatest leaders in the free world once said, ASK NOT WHAT THIS BOARD OF DIRECTORS CAN DO FOR YOU, ASK WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR VILLAGE.

Sincerely,
